Nathan J. Feltman |

Counsel

Professional Experience

Nate Feltman counsels clients through a variety of economic development, corporate and commercial transactions. He has experience representing public and private companies and private equity and venture capital funds.

Before working with Baker & Daniels, Nate served as Secretary of Commerce for the State of Indiana and as CEO of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC). As Secretary of Commerce, Nate was a member of Governor Mitch Daniels' cabinet and led Indiana's economic development efforts. From 2005 to 2006, he served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel to the IEDC. From 2005 to 2008, Nate represented the State of Indiana in the negotiation of incentives with more than 700 companies (including Honda, Toyota, Medco and Amazon) that chose to create jobs and invest in Indiana. His work at the IEDC took him around the world in search of investment and jobs, as he organized trade missions with Governor Daniels to Asia and Europe.

While with the IEDC, Nate served on the 21st Century & Development Fund Advisory Board, a state fund that provides seed capital to early stage companies developing innovative technologies in Indiana. He also worked closely with legislators to help reform and improve economic development legislation in Indiana.

Prior to his state service, Nate served as a partner with Ice Miller in Indianapolis and Altheimer & Gray in Chicago, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions, cross-border transactions and general corporate representations. Before his U.S. legal experience, Nate spent nearly four years in Moscow with the international law firms of Baker & McKenzie and Steptoe & Johnson, where he represented multi-national companies seeking to do business in Russia through joint ventures, capital investments, trade relationships, licensing and franchising arrangements.
